Pratt - Thomas House in Berkeley, California

John Hudson Thomas was the architect of this baronial-looking residence, built in 1911.  The Scottish Art Nouveau influence of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Viennese Secessionists is quite unmistakable in the design of this home.  When compared to the Neo-Revivals going up at the time, it must have seemed terribly sophisticated and avant garde.  Photo taken in 1999 by Howard J. Partridge.
