Front Entrance Detail
David Greenleaf House in Alameda, California
This entrance of this 1891 house shows the architect's flair
for exaggerated proportions and juxtapositions in style. Ernest
Coxhead, the likely architect, seemed to enjoy an unconventional touch
of Baroque classicism in his Arts and Crafts designs, as seen here in
the rounded portico that supports the dramatic shingled and bell-topped
tower. Photo taken in 2002 by Howard J. Partridge.
