Hôtel Hallet

Exterior view of an Art Nouveau style town house. Photo by Howard J. Partridge.

Max Hallet House in Brussels, Belgium

This house design shows Victor Horta, the architect, moving further away from his sophisticated Art Nouveau compositions.  The facade has an unmistakable air of Beaux Arts classicism, a style which Horta certainly understood and could design with competence.  Closer observation of the detailing reveals some of the sensual curves that characterize Horta's earlier Art Nouveau works.  House designed and built between 1903 and 1905.  Photograph taken in 1982 by Howard J. Partridge.
